Nihiwatu is a unique location. You've probably never been anywhere quite like it.
The location is beautiful, remote and showcases a fascinating local culture. Sitting at the spectacular, hill-side bar and restaurant watching perfect waves peel off un-ridden is a sight to behold. Nihiwatu is a special place. There's just something about it.
Tropicsurf exclusively books the surfer allotment at the camp once a year. We hope you can join us there for a week of surfing, learning, adventure and a uniquely, relaxing holiday.
Nihiwatu accommodation is no Four Seasons hotel. It’s extremely isolated. There's no email or mobile phone range, (though there is satellite phone access). There are only 9 rooms. They are basic, spacious and private. They are not ultra-luxurious but they are very comfortable. Every room is screened and the resort fogs for mosquitos weekly. Subsequently malaria has never been reported at the resort.
The location itself is outstanding - both spectacular and secluded. The resort’s exclusivity means you can enjoy solitude and quiet with a small number of guests. It’s a true getaway.
There’s a pool, spa and watersports centre. Dining is excellent with a first class Indonesian chef preparing tasty local cuisines.
The bar sits atop a hill with sweeping views of the surf and surrounding countryside. Sunset drinks here are a daily highlight... the kind of place you could sit all day long and take in the majesty of it all. Local staff offer excellent service and are friendly and helpful.

The Nihiwatu left is often a demanding wave. It's a fast and powerful left with a quick, shallow end section - suited to intermediate or advanced surfers.
Having said that, the actual degree of difficulty does depend on variables such as swell size, moon phase, swell direction and tides. During peak season, powerful, double-overhead swells are common.
However Tropicsurf traditionally books a late-season week that maximizes our chance of more manageable shoulder-high to overhead surf. Nihiwatu has exclusive rights to this break so it’s fair to expect there will be no other surfers in the lineup (other than the occasional surf by the one or two Nihiwatu staff.)
The empty waves are one of the main attractions. There are some other rights accessible by boat. Additional fees apply.

This is not a trip for beginners. Surfers should be confident and experienced. If the swell does get too large, there may be smaller spots that can be accessed by boat at additional charges.
However Tropicsurf has carefully chosen this particular date for our annual trip because this is a late-season week when one could reasonably expect conditions that will make the wave a little smaller and easier than normal, thereby appealing to a wider range of surfing abilities.
Longboarders have been here and loved it, as recently featured in Longbreak Magazine.
Nihiwatu suits nature lovers who love to get away from it all and experience some peace and time for reflection.
There's also plenty of activity for those who like to keep busy. Examples include long walks along a beautiful, sandy beach, massage treatments at the hilltop spa, horse riding along the beach, deep sea fishing, mountain biking, village visits and cultural activities.
Nihiwatu Resort predominantly caters to non-surfing guests so this is a place well suited to ladies and non-surfers.
